Tina, visa on arrival is easy and relatively quick. Make sure you get off the plane asap and run to immigration otherwise you are queing for a long time. Visa cost us$25 and if you pay in us$ (instead of the local rp equivalent)its a lot less hassle.

I am going to be in Bali for about 3 weeks at the end of the summer. I will be traveling with a whole load of stuff. Where would be the best place for me to store it, at the airport? If so, do you know how much it would cost? I would rather not have to drag it around with me! Thanks for taking the time!

Carolyn,

If your last visit to Bali was in '93, you will remember that Kuta was the center of the tourist scene, Legian was the up and coming place, with Ubud, Lovina and Padangbai the other favourites.

During the last 14 years there has been a tremendous amount of development in Bali, with areas such as Seminyak, Canggu, the Bukit, Jimbaran and Amed coming onto the scene.

Lovina has moved on from being a backpacker's scene to a family holiday place for Europeans. Padangbai is dead as door nail and the whole tourist scene is heading away from the bamboo guest house and reggae band, to the luxury villa and lounge bar scene.

I think Seminyak is a cool place to start out. Ubud is still cool with many cheap homestays downtown as well as nicer places. Amed on the far SE coast is super chill, and you will find independent guest houses and hotels all over, including the Bukit peninsula (Bingin, Balangan etc.), and around the coast.

Again, a popular question... Does the Ngurah Rai Airport have locker/storage facilities? If so, would a 20-day period be too long? And what would be the approximate cost?
