Ceremonies and offerings abound in Bali

Walking around my neighborhood in the morning is pleasant because the temperature is cool, the searing sun is still below the tree line and Balinese locals are performing ceremonial prayers.

Outside every house and every business prayers and offerings will be given. Today on Jl. Seminyak I saw ladies carrying ceremonial baskets of offerings on their heads. These 2 Balinese ladies pulled out of an alley in front of me and I said ‘hello’, while snapping them. Who knows where they were going or waht the occassion was. It could be a wedding, cremation, or ceremony for a local temple.

Down in Kuta at Warung 96 I observed the waitress put on a ceremonial sash, required when performing a ceremony, and bring a tray of 40 canang (trays of flowers) to a shrine inside the warung. She told me they use 40 canang every morning and she has to place them at other location around the shop and outside.
