The month long Kuta Karnival is under way with events planned all over the place including arts, dances, music and even female boxing.
This after I walked down to the lifeguard tower on Pantai Kuta where it turns right along the beach to watch some of the Balinese dancing that was in progress. A gamelan orchestra was on one side of the stage providing typical ‘glong glong rattle rattle’ music.
Among the dancing I watched was a group of 3 ladies and 2 men, all from Denpasar. The ladies came on stage first and about half way through the men appeared through the rear of the stage with spears and performed for a few minutes with them.
The star of the show was this young girl, also from Denpasar who must have been about 12. She performed for maybe 10 minutes and her routine was perfectly in time with the changes in tempo of the gamelan, very impressive. She used eye and hand movements to add action to the performance and it was amazing to thing of the hours practicing she has done.
Crowds were around and the beach seems quite busy.
Balinese dancing can be seen in this location throughout the Kuta Karnival every Wednesday afternoon.
The sunset is worth staying around for too.

You’re right Bali is one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever experienced.
Come back to bali everyone, you’re missing out.
I was looking in the ‘crowds’ picture to see if I could find myself, but didn’t see me, I was there for the months events.
