Bali Kabupaten: Which one are you in?
Kubupaten means district and Bali is divided into 8 districts and 1 municipality, Denpasar. Places like Kuta and Ubud are quite well known and easy to locate, but how about trying to figure out what district they are in. Here is a little help in matching places with districts.
8 Bali Districts
Furthest out west in Jembrana in which you will find the town of Negara.
Kuta is in the most southerly district of Badung, as is Legian, Seminyak, the Bukit peninsula and some villages up to Bedugal.
Tabanan is the main town in Tabanan district and is located east of Jembrana.
The most northerly district is called Buleleng, main town, Singaraja.
Just east of Badung is the district of Bangli whose main town shares that name.
Gianyar is to the south with the town of Gianyar and Ubud as the 2 biggest centers of population.
Bangli and Gianyar are followed by Klunkung heading east with a town of the same name again.
The furthest district in East Bali is Karangasem which has the towns of Amlapura, Amed and Candi Dasa.
Badung is by far the most visited district although for me the authentic Balinese lifestyle is to be found in places such as Karangasem and Buleleng.
