Airports are not my favourite places for sure. Security checks, scanners, body searches, questions, paperwork that has to be in order, and multiple opportunities to waste money.
Ngurah Rai international is a low-key airport compared to some of the others in Asia and they are way less stress than the security-conscious US. Landing in Bali means a short walk from the plane to the immigration, where you will either head to the right, as I do into the line for people with visas, or to the left. On the left side is the VOA (visa on arival) counter where you pay $25 for your 30 days, and after that immigration check. Irregularities with your passport or airline ticket (eg. no onward ticket) maybe be found, but these can be dealt with using a ‘little something’. Often you will be asked for a ‘little something’, which can be as little as $5.
Customs is a breeze. I have only been stopped once and the guy could pretty much tell I didn’t have anything I shouldn’t of had. You are allowed 1 bottle of liquor or wine. If they find 2 they will take 1 of them. Any items, eg. bags of semi-prescious stones, hi-tech stuff or other items they think you are importing in order to sell, they will try an hit you up for a money. Having said all that, this airport is small and relatively low stress. Here’s an account of arriving in Bali by some guy with a travel blog.

I find bali airport one of the most efficient airports that i have ever passed through. It takes very little time to be processed both on arrival and departure.
Perth aipport gives me the absolute yips—Quarrantine especially!
When we go on holiday to bali it takes appox 15 minutes to get through the airport there.Perth can take near enough 1-2 hours both ways!!!!
