East Bali: Why should you go?
East Bali is my favourite part of the island for a number of reasons. Life out there is way slower than in the Kuta, Legian, Seminyak area, the scenery is lovely and the bule population is very low. All this makes for a pleasant environment to relax. Hell when I retire I might even move out there with my wives and girlfriends.
For the visitor you are looking at a 2-hour drive from Kuta to Candi Dasa, the last main tourist center on the coastal road heading east. Here are some of the highlights that East Bali has to offer.

We all love reading your blog but Nick can you please not use Bule to describe white people please? Its offensive and would be seen as so if you used the word slope to describe Indonesians.
As soon as I started speaking good Indo I stopped hearing that word at all from Indonesians…..that in itself proves as it says in the dictionary that the word is derogatory.
