Pharmacies, chemists, apoteks, they mean the same thing and the latter is what the Balinese call them. Most apoteks are located reasonably close to hospitals and you will find many in tourist centers. The closest one to me in Seminyak in next to Bintang supermarket. Kimia Farma is a chain and stocks a variety of products to fix common ailments including sunscreen, liniment, aspirin and more specific items.
Always check the expiry date on anything you buy and be aware that some of the street side places, for example the Chinese medicine place at Bintang, and stores their products in a glass case in direct sunlight. Most pharmaceuticals must be stored at a cool temperature so the heat will make a big difference in the products performance.
If you get a dose of Bali Belly go to Bali Deli on Jl. Kunti in Seminyak and pick up a bottle of Bali Belly Buster, then an hour afterwards drink a couple of cans of Pocari Sweat, the electrolyte drink, to prevent dehydration.

I’d stay away from the bali belly buster. After all it’s made from Balinese water! How do I know this? Because it’s illegal to ship colloidal silver from Australia to Bali.
can you get malaria medication in bali? cheap and good kinds like malarone?
