Visiting Bali for many people means taking a well earned break, letting your hair down and doing some fun things you would not do at home. One of the funnest things around is bungy jumping and the best place to do this in Bali is AJ Hackett in Legian / Seminyak.

AJ Hackett is the guy from New Zealand who invented the sport of bungy jumping and now has many locations world wide.
For those who are unfamiliar bungy jumping originated in the Pacific island of Vanuatu where islanders would build tall bamboo structures and dive off head first with vines attached to their ankles. The Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club started a kind of bungy 20 years ago and AJ perfected a bungy of his own with a friend for fun.
Since then AJ Hackett has designed and perfected the equipment that is the industry standard, everything from the towers, the bungys, the pully / retrieval system. To this day AJ Hackett has a 100% safety record worldwide.
Thursday night I went along to their 10th year anniversary party. AJ himself was in town and I caught up with him. He was the one who snapped a photo of me doing my first jump and couple of years ago and was great vibes as usual.
AJ Hackett is located in the Double Six nightclub property at the end of Jl. Double Six. The pool area and nightclub have undergone renovations and look great.
I always look forward to the annual party here because I always meet nice people. The staff were in great spirits serving satay beef, chicken and squid and free cocktails were provided by Bali Moon Liquors. This is a Space Cadet and I tried about 10 to make sure they were coming out okay.
Site manager Adam gave a short speech thanking everyone for coming and inviting guests to eat, drink, be merry and have a free jump. AJ followed that up a speech of his own. AJ was the first to jump and the tower definitely looks impressive after dark. The view from the top of the tower is fantastic and you really feel you can see all of southern Bali from up there.
For me the most intense moment in bungy jumping is the first 2 seconds, when you launch yourself into thin air and then feel gravity take hold and pull you down like an express elevator to hell. Quite the thing to get the adrenaline pumping.
The party lasted till about 8pm with a local band entertaining the revelers and Pak Kadek, the owner of Double Six showed up himself.
If you want to surprise your friends or family with a bungy jump while in Bali this is the place. The guys will take your booking online and give you free transport to and from your hotel, you choose the time.
