Air Asia: An affordable alternative to the major airlines

Air Asia is on the cutting edge of the Asian budget airline scene. In business for 4 year already, it has expanded its routes and now covers Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

I checked their website and prices vary greatly depending on what days you fly and what kind of ticket you get. Still you can get a return to KL from Bali for $150 right now.

A BBC article points out that Air Asia isn’t afraid to step out of the box. They advertised on English Premiership soccer on TV, and also are not afraid to state their case regarding Singapore. Air Asia is not allowed to land in Singapore and chief executive, Tony Fermandes says “It is a country that is supposed to welcome open competition, but they are scared of us,” he said. “We will open up new destinations. People can go to Bali and Bangkok to shop. It is going to be a loss for Singapore.”

Check out Air Asia for deals if you are planning to explore SE Asia. According to their website, they currectly serve Bali, Jakarta, Balikpapan, Bandung, Batam, Medan, Padang, Pekan Baru, Solo, Surabaya.
