Since the early 1900′s Bali has been a place favoured by members of the Gay community. The relaxed attitude of the Balinese which comes from a village culture and Hinduism, is condusive to relaxation. Seminyak is probably the center of the Gay scene in Bali, with its plentiful spas, hotels, restaurants and nightlife. Easy hook-ups with locals are the go, and I spot older gay men out with their new friend on a daily basis. No worries, whatever gets you through the night I reckon. Live and let live.
Not being educated as to the particulars of the Gay community, but realizing it represents a significant part of the Bali market, I checked out a site that is designed specifically to serve their needs. joe, do you have problems with gays?
It might be of interest to note that a significant slice of the gay trade in Kuta/Seminyak is peopled by javanese men, nominal muslims, married with families in java, who are in bali for economic opportunities offered by the gay tourist market – sex services niche.
