What would it take for you to move to Bali?

Those of us who have visited Bali love coming back as often as possible and even think of moving there. Making the move involves more than you might think, especially when you consider the long term.

Don’t know about you, but I’m not rich. That means I have to work everyday doing something to pay the rent. There are visas, air tickets, health insurance and all kinds of things to cover. Moving to Bali is possible, but many people who say they’d love to make the move don’t.

What would it take for you to move to Bali? What part of your plan falls through and what are your fears?

I often think about this but I have never been there. Bali is on the top of my list as of now for early retirement/get out of the US/escape the rat race places. I obviously would perfer to retire or I would need to find a job I could do over the internet.

Bali is beautiful…but why commit to any paradise when there are so many beautiful places in the world. Maybe some time in Thailand, Bali, Philippines, India. Big world . Plus it`s and island, pretty big island…but an island still. I also think about moving to paradise and believe that if you want to do it ( at least for me ) you need to rent a place you can also rent out to others… must be highly desirable and extremely easy to lease … so you can wander, renew visa requirements, visit family, weddings etc. Plus throw in the unfortunate possibility that you might need to leave paradise immediatly … legal stuff, natural catastrophe, political instability ,someone trying to kill you, kidknapp you , extortion , bribery. Pretty grim stuff, I know but possible . So much to think about. Thats why I say rent month to month.

I’ll be moving to Bali sometime next year. Can and Can’t wait for some reasons, ‘rents already bought a house there, and I’ll be visiting it this New Years. Btw your site has been a load of help for Hotels, yeah, I could stay at my house, but a 16 year old kid still likes its freedom from his parents. =).. Great site..Great Island, right?
