Running into a Japanese tour group in Sanur Bali

Last night while riding down to the Jazz Bar & Grille in Sanur I stopped at a Circle K on the Bypass to pick up a large bottle of Aqua. This seemed like a good idea as I was a bit thirsty and knew I might have a beer or 2. As I was pulling into the parking area I saw 2 Pariwisata tour buses unload a group of Japanese tourists, who all charged into the Circle K. 'Oh man!' I thought, 'this is going to be a zoo, with everybody shopping and no one speaking English.'

Inside it was a shopping frenzy, bottles of water, cigarettes and snacks seemingly the hot items. At the counter the 2 Balinese staff tried their best to cope with the language barrier, finally calling in the driver to sort out a big order.

I was at the back of the line but the amazing thing was 3 different people said 'sorry' for holding me up and 2 different people offered me to go in front of them. The Japanese seem so polite and compared to us westerners a breath of fresh air. The big tour groups can seem like a pain but those folks are just trying to have a holiday like most people.

I agree. I like the Japanese, they are very polite… and hardworkers also…
