Recently I have met a ton of people who have either recently relocated to Bali, or have talked to people via email who are planning on doing that. I see people with plans, people with no plan and other people like Cody Mecklenburg who's plan is already in action. It's an attractive idea, quit your job, move to a tropical island where the people walk around with baskets of fruit on their heads and the sun always shines.
A lady from Europe recently emailed me asking about a job offer she has had a tourist rep and how much the job would pay. In my advice to her about moving to Bali the number 1 thing I said was 'nail down your source of income'. Yes things are cheap here, if you want to live like a local. Yes it's possible to start a business, if you have money and the know how. Most people relocating to Bali are seeking a lifestyle change, so if you quit your sales job in Sydney and plan to open a bar in Seminyak you have a steep learning curve, especially diving into the local scene and dealing with corruption at all levels.
