How I am dealing with the new visa rules in Bali

This afternoon I paid a visit to Arjuna immigration services boss Kurnia Hidayat.

This guy has got his act together and looks after the immigration affairs of countless foreigners who live here in Bali. When I showed up this afternoon at the office on Jl. Petitenget in Kerobokan I had to wait in line he was that busy.

The new visa regulations have thrown monkey wrench into people’s plans somewhat and many people are moving over from the 60 day tourist visa to a business visa, I talked to Kurnia about how this works and he said after filing some routine paperwork the process can be started. This includes leaving Indonesia for a day and visiting the Indonesian consulate in the country of your choice. You will then be issued with a Business visa that will give you 60 days on arrival plus the chance to renue 4 times for 30 days each. A multiple entry Business visa will be good for a year and a half if you time your visa runs properly.

If you want to drop by for a consultation ask for Erni, the office manager, she’ll hook you up quickly.

This evening the wind is picking up at the beach, no chance of getting bitten by mozzies tonight, more like sand burn.

I’m looking around for a part time employee, someone who has a bike, phone, speaks English and can type. I talked to an employee of clothes store who might work out and we’ll see how that develops.

Hell from bali all you bloggers, good news yes you can renew your VOA. Costs 1.5 million rp and gives you 30 extra days. A friend here from Japan did it, no problem. You do it at the airport. I will give you more details when I do it myself

Indo Consulate’s in Aust have said you can get a 60 day visa fopr $125 (AUS) Allows you to stay for 60 days, or you can get an Indonesian to write a letter of sponsorship/invitation & pay $125 it gives you a 60 day visa, but as you are sponsored you can extend in Indonesian for a fee of course (unknown at this stage!) & I think you get another 30 days!
So if you are planning to stay longer than 30 days, I’d recommend applying for the 60 day visa for $125 cheaper than getting it extended in Bali!
Angie, we are all jealous, wish we were there!!!!!
