My flight from Bali to Oregon can go a number of ways. Last time I went though Hong Kong and Los Angeles. I usually have long stop overs and newer airports are the go. Spending an over nighter in a old airpost sucks. This time my long stop is a 12 hour spot in Korea. I flew Korean Airlines from Jakarta to Incheon, Seoul. My first flight on Korean was decent. The plane was a Boeing, much like all the others used across Asia. The flight attendents were all about 5'7", pretty and some spoke English with an 'Oh my God, UCLA just scored' accent. The food for the flight was a Korean dish which was a big bowl of salad, onto which a bowl of steamed rice was tipped.
I mashed all that up together with some smoked salmon and added red chili sauce and sesame seed oil. It was a actually good, pretty healthy and filling. It was interesting to watch the Indonesians on the flight. In my experience they have to have rice with every meal, but adapt slowly to other Asians flavours. The 2 older ladies sitting across the aisle from me said to each other the Korean chili paste wasn't as hot as sambal. Thank god!
Korean served free wine and beer which was nice. I was thinking about how the pilots could communicate with air traffic control. Their English was barely understandable and you can imagine an Indonesian controller telling them "No its okay, you taxi now and wait, then go."
