After taking Ika swimming on Sunday afternoon I toyed with the idea of having a bbq. Throwing an event that brings people together can only be good and I fired off an sms to my friend Palu. He got back to me around 3pm saying he was be there, the suggested time 7pm. I also contacted a few other people and expecting about 10 in total went over to Bali Deli for some meat and salad items. I picked up a couple of pounds of steak, several pounds of chicken and one of those handy mixed salad bags, plus cucumber and tomatoes. At the house I already had a full bottle of Italian virgin olive oil and balsamic.
Having Ika help was wonderful and my bbq set up is getting better every time around. As people started to arrive the house filled up rapidly. Palu came along with his own mobile party (himself, Wiwin & daughter, Stewart, Devo, Andrea from Germany, Ben from UK and 2 other people). Another face was Elle from Wollongong Australia, the lady who Juliana (Baturiti) stays with. Elle told me that Juliana is engaged to be married, so all you Juliana fans, she is off the market.
At the peak of the bbq we had about 20 people and I was slinging meat and sausages on the grill like a crazy man. Ika refuses to make more than 4 portions of rice at a time on the premise that any more will be wasted. We ran out and early and so people devoured the meant and salad.
A good night all round and the thing I liked was new people meeting each other.

We’d never presume to invite ourselves to one of your BBQ’s but thought it perhaps more appropriate to invite you for a drink while we’re in Bali. We’re staying in Seminyak May 27-29 if you’ll be around. The least we can do is treat you for a beer (or whatever your preference!) for being such a fantastic resource and friend to fellow travellers. What do you say?
