Sebentar, you’re only the first in line

My usual lunch date is with a packet of nasi bungkus (take away rice) for 4,000rp. I spend more money on dinner, but try to economize on money and time at lunch. The place I go is located on Jl. Drupadi in Seminyak, and is popular with Balinese locals. Today when I got there a lady had just been served and I was first in line. While the ladies were tidying up and getting ready to serve me, 3 other people came in.

The first one of them got served and I got the old ‘Sebentar’ (wait) request. This pisses me of no end. Not wanting to deal with it I shouted “HEY WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON? I’M 1ST.” That got some attention and saw me served 2nd. I don’t like being treated like a piece of crap and won’t go along with their local preferences on me being always last.

Still fuming when I got home, I powered my pound of rice and fish down in about 2 minutes. Sweat rolling, I stink already and its only 12.30p!

Nice one Nick mate….i would have done exactly the same and probably would have F***** the rice back over the counter and asked them for Manners with it as well. He heee

No but seriousley Nick i hate hate hate bad manners. I use to work in a place and there was this stuck up old spinstery woman who never had no manners and never said thanks if you held the door open for her. So one day she came walking along the corridor and i had the door held open up to the point she reached me and then whooom i slammed it shut on her. F***** great mate i really got satisfaction out that and she could say shit (as they say in the states). He hee

Oh Nick pet I have had a good old laugh at your wee temper tantrum–I know the feeling well. Not the first time Mickey has hustled me out of a place to shut me up when I get “on my gander”-as he calls it!
When we were up in Bali time before last it was Ramadan and the hotel we stayed at basically treated us like shit while they pandered to the folk from Jakarta ect.We were stuck in the crappiest rooms in the older wing of the hotel and told if we wanted to move it qould cost a lot of money. The duty manager was an arrogant prick but the sad thing was all the other desk staff were so sweet and tried thier best to make us feel better.
One of the minor hassles of being a mere Bule i s’pose
Cheers laurs
