Saying goodbye to the relatives in Seminyak Bali

Tuesday afternoon my relatives from Java, that is mother and father (Ibu & Ba Pak) took off for Java. They bought a ticket from a place in Kuta on Jl. Legian and picked up the bus at Ubung terminal in NW Denpasar. I helped them carry their bags to the street and got them a taxi, I also gave them money to help with their travel expenses. The ride back to Semarang will take 15 hours, but at least the bus is AC. My father in-law asked me via Ika if he could take a bottle of arak and 3 beers with him. I was tempted to ask if he wanted a babi guling to sling over his shoulder to go with it.

Back in Java he paints cars and will get back to it. It was interesting having them around and to hang out with people who are coming from a totally different reality. Its even more extreme than some of the Balinese people I meet, in that they do not have experience with westerners and look totally bewildered at some of the things that come their way. The price of a hot tea shocks my mother in-law and the Chinese restaurant I took them to in Tuban must of seemed like Caesers Palace. They will probably make it back in a few months and the good thing they bring is helping hands. Ibu has squeezed out 4 puppies of her own and knows by now what to do with a screaming kid and which end the poop comes out. Its a good break for Ika to have them all here and the start to Jevons life has been full of relatives.
