Just walked down Jl. Dhyana Pura to Kemangi (leaf) warung to get Ika soto ayam (chicken soup). Its dark and raiy outside at 7.49pm. I took my umbrella and passed a few diners in Bush Telegraph, Santa Fe and Gateway of India. I got the soto in a plastic bag and brought it home. The humid atmosphere meant it was still hot when I arrived home.
Down closer to the bottom end of the street it was empty. I like the evening rain, it clears the air and cools things down. I met with Mike Hillis from Unexplored Adventures at Mades Warung in Seminyak at 5pm. Mike was telling me how his diving / hiking business is going. Recently they have had groups from Jakarta and Taiwan out there, loving the quality marine life. Mike is a great example of an expat who is really going for it in a wild part of Indonesia. He told me the Bali dive shops ask him why he didn’t set up one in Bali. “Well,” he says “Here in Bali there are many dive shops. In Ambon there’s just 1.”
Mades Warung is a Seminyak standard, located on Jl. Seminyak close to Fabio’s. Mades serves Indonesian and Balinese favourites plus popular western food, grilled snapper etc.
