Monday night I rode up Jl. Seminyak and stopped at the cool padang place, Pondok Dua. They serve up the Sumatran style food from pyramids, piled on plates, and its always good. I don’t get cheated either which is nice and many expats go there.
Eating my greens, rice, tuna and spicy sauce, I was joined by several locals all sucking away on clove cigarettes and watching an Indonesian comedy show. I tell you, the comedians over here have a sense of humor and they
make a lot of suggestive gestures, its quite funny.
During my dinner, which cost around 10,000rp, the sky burst and down came torrential rain. I mean absolutely pouring. Scampering outside I got a decent shower just getting into my poncho. Riding to Global Xtreme the road was underwater in sections and a Jeep sent a wave of water, neck high in my direction. Close to the traffic light I hit a huge pot hole that was filed with water. The puddles all joined together making it impossible to know what lay ahead. Fortunately I was able to keep control.
After 2 hours at Global I came back the same way, and by now the upper section of Jl. Seminyak looked like a river. I’d say a 100 meter stretch was totally underwater. Very impressive what nature can do.

I arrived last night and had just sat down for my first beer when that rain hit and boy was it loud.
The internet cafe I’m at has baliblog stickers plastered over the monitors which reminded me to check it out!
