Mike Hillis: Operator of Unexplored Adventures in Ambon Indonesia-part I

Baliblog: Here's Mike from Unexplored Adventures. So Mike what has been going on in the last 3 months?
Mike: Well we've already had 4 or 5 groups come through as far as our diving operation in Ambon is concerned. We're getting some good initial reports of people who have been through there. We have some really nice testimonial letters from divers, great fish, great coral, no crabs and we have some local musicians who come in and play for our guests after dinner. After they have been diving for a few hours they come in and we have a few beers, local food and the guys strumming guitars after dinner. So yeah, we’re off to a good start, slow but steady.

Baliblog: What problems have you encountered?
Mike: The big thing we have to deal with out in Ambon is dealing with the image problem.
Baliblog: I like you Mike, don't ever change.
Mike: But really, we have to deal with the past problems in Ambon but some people don't know that those events even happened, so we don't bring the subject up. When they do bring it up, we tell them 'look there hasn't been a westerner killed out here since WWII'. So it's going to be an exciting new project. We'll just have to work our butts off, be patient and see how it develops.
