Today I had an appointment with Jamie, the owner of Seraya Shores in East Bali. We had a few bumps to iron out and he told me how things are going in the sticks. Seraya Shores will be renovating their bathrooms at some point and there are other great plans including a yoga pavilion. We met at Ku De Ta which is a real favourite with expats (Real expats that is) and tourists alike. We were joined by another guy from Santa Barbara CA, who is enjoying the scene. Ku De Ta has a range of finger food type stuff as well as drinks and cocktails. I asked for a sandwich and the guy looked at me blankly. I ended up with hummus, pita bread and a tomato salad. My food bill was somewhere around 100,000rp which I wouldn't spend everyday but sometimes its fun to visit a nicer place. The dining room inside has a proper menu, which is all-western.
Ku De Ta has lounge chairs and shades for people to toast themselves to a crisp. They also have an out shower to rinse off after a swim in the ocean. Jamie commented that Bali is already ruined, "When I used to come down here Kuta was Kuta, Legian was Legian and Seminyak was Seminyak. Now it's all joined into one big sprawl." Its totally true, but one person's pleasure can be another person's pain (as a benchong once told me). I remember one expat said that Bali just keeps getting better, because you can find quality products and services. Before we reminisce too much about the good old days, lets remember that back then people would complain about the things they missed and couldn't get. Bali is developing and you can take it or leave it.

so nick, what news from Seraya Shores where I’m heading in 9 days on your recommendation? I thought an Australian woman owned it.
She owns it with her partner who is also Australian.
There have been some changes including a new pool and another cottage is now available.
