Leaving Bali for Singapore

So its midday here in Bali. I am getting ready to board a Garuda flight to Singapore for an over night visa run. I will check into a cheap guest house and on Tuesday morning contact the 'agent' that Arjuna immigration gave me. He will help process my papers in the Indonesian Consulate before midday, which I will hopefully pick up around 3pm before I fly back to Bali.

My visa processing fee in Singapore is $400 Singapore dollars and the agent's fee is $40. It all adds up and I am looking forward to being back even before I've left. While in Singapore I will try to meet up with Fawzee, the fellow who was in Bali recently with his girlfriend Siti. In fact he asked me to bring him a bottle of Absolute Raspberry from duty free.

The good points of Singapore are its totally uncorrupt, extremely efficient and there is guest house accommodation for around US$11 a night, or cheaper I you don't mind the dorm. I am also familiar with the transport system that helps greatly. The flight out of Bali goes via Jakarta, but then direct on the way back.

Hi, how much does a flight to and overnight stay at Singapore cost? And which guest house do you use?

Thanks.

Yes Nick we want to know what is the name of the guesthouse & where might it be? We paid $60.00/night for a hotel, but next time through I would rather go cheaper if possible. Did you book it or learn about the guesthouse through a website? Are there other choices for a couple & if it is dorm style, is there anyway to store your luggage securely? Any information would be helpful.

Hi Nick, I would like to know more about the guest house you mentioned above. The name of the guest house, where it’s located and how far is it from the Indonesian Consulate? Or is there any more option for a cheaper place to stay? My ex-hubby needs to fly to Singapore every 4 months and he usually stay at the Inn-crowd hostel which cost SIN$ 18 per night. Thanks before, Nick!

I stayed at a little junker called Hawaii Guest House on Bencoolen St. Te taxi fare from there to the Indonesian Embassy is $5.50 and take 10 minutes.

I’ll try Inn-Crowd next time.

Here’s a selection of places for you.
