Language is important in the development of a child. I have heard that in a child's first 3-4 years it is most receptive to learning language. Ika and I intend to use this to our advantage by surrounding Jevon with plentiful linguistic stimulation (that was a mouthful wasn't it!).
The way things are shaping up is that Ika speaks to Jevon in Bahasa Jawa (Javanese) and myself in English. I think we've got those 2 bases covered. Every morning since my relatives were here Auntie Daisy has come over to bath Jevon in the morning. Maybe we'll hire her to do this full-time and give Ika a rest. Daisy can speak Indonesian, English, Javanese and Sundanese (west Java). We might ask Daisy to speak to Jevon in Sundanese, so he gets fed a diet of words that he can later relate to. I'm sure as soon as Jevon can walk he will be meeting other toddlers and learning a bit of Balinese can't hurt.
Of course with all that stimulation things will be jumbled to begin with, but kids finally start to sort out what words go where. My part is making sure Jevon gets a steady diet of multiple languages, then his brain will be a sponge for words.

G’Day Nick,
Excellent!. great choice of languages to learn. Intially most of the dialects of Indonesia, and then, the world!.
No doubt he will be a nomad like his old man and so why don’t you get Jevon learning French or Spanish, or even Italian when he hits the schoolyard.
