Its now 19 days since Jevon came into the world kicking and screaming. I remember Ika telling before he was born "baby naughty, always want to run." In his first minute he was grabbing hold of the towel and he has a feisty attitude. Every morning his Auntie Daisy baths him in a plastic tub we bought a while ago at Bintang. He's already the full length of it and Daisy told us he likes being bathed on his front the best. Recently he got his first trip to Kuta, in a taxi with the rest of us, his first trip to the beach, all wrapped up like a bundle and his first ride on a motorbike (without my knowledge or consent!).
In Java they have a special type of sarong that is tied around the mother's neck and hangs in front to cradle the baby (Balinese use a typical sarong which isn't as good). There is now a modern type of the baby sarong, which has a wrap around hood too. The baby can lay in a feeding type position and seems to like it.
This evening we all went to a Chinese restaurant in Tuban and on the way there Ika tried to feed him with a bottle. He pursed his lips and spat. "He doesn't want bottle, he wants tits." said Ika, which is good, they both have taken to breast feeding like a couple of old buddies.

Jevon is gorgeous….
Hi Tracey,
Getting closer by the day eh. Any names yet for the little one?.
Tracey, Yes I will get Ika to arrange a baby holder for you.
jevon looks like hes almost ready for his first bunji jump.
(chuckle) Yep, Jevon is defintey a male. Get used to it, he’ll want them his entire life.;-)
Good to hear that Ika and Jevon are having success & gave this a go.
I always shake my head at the vast differences between Asia and North America. Here, if I didn’t have my baby in a special 5 point harness approved kid seat-bucket, while driving my 4 door sedan with (6 airbags) , I get charged with endangerment.
Waiting til we meet the little one before we have totally settled….
I used to take Maddy around on motorbikes, she actually only wants to get around on the bike nowadays, but Dede says it’s too dangerous, so the family pretty much always arrange for a car while we are there!!!!
Funny hey that they all get around on bikes, yet when we are there it’s safety first!!!
Thanks to Ika!!!!

G’day Nick,
Jevon is looking more like you every day!. It must be the smile. Typical man though - likes to lie on his back and have all the work done! (He, he…!).
