Jevon is a growing boy and is developing nicely. Little by little he is more aware of his surroundings and opens his eyes wider. His diet consists of mother's milk and formula, although he prefers the natural version. I think there is no doubt he'll grow up to be a microbrew beer drinker rather than a mindless consumer of generic brands. We will take him for his check up this coming Saturday at Puri Bunda hospital in Denpasar. Since his birth he has been going once every 2 weeks for check ups and immunizations and that will slow down to once a month. We took him to the swimming pool a few days ago and maybe after 6 months he'll be able to take a dip. Jevon is already pangan (long) and I reckon he might be taller than me. As for movement he can almost roll over by himself.
Ika wants to get a pushchair with a shade to wheel him around, which can be tricky here in Bali. The sidewalks are full of potholes and the curb-face is over a foot in many places. I am looking forward to him having some little Balinese friends to play with. Another expat who has a small daughter told me that Jevon will end up hanging out with other campur (mixed) kids. He said that first of all the other kiss will like him, but they will go home and tell their parents 'that bule kid is allowed to do this and that' etc. The parents will tell them not to hang around him so he might be forced to find friends elsewhere. I hope that doesn't happen, but was told to expect it. There will not be any shortage of expat kids here in the next 10 years for sure with the amount of people looking to relocate here and build villas. All I want is a healthy kid and the rest I'll deal with.

Let’s hope he looks a lot better than me! But anyway I am just happy he is healthy. If you have your health you can do anything and for a kid who is just starting his life it means everything is possible.
Cute looking kid Nick!
Keep up the swimming lessons and maybe you’ll have a little Ian Thorpe on your hands.
Hey Nick.. i cant wait to see Jevon in person aye.. wanna bite his cheeks!!!!!! *grrr* anyway send my regards to Ika from me and siti.. u take care mate..
is that jevon`s first pair of boxing gloves, i dont think the kid`s in his school will give him strife, he`s got the irish fighting spirit! …scottycol…
Nick,
I just found out that you are originally from Ireland from Scottycol’s e-mail. My husband is an O’Neill. His grandfather moved to Puerto Rico and married a Puertorican lady. They visited Ireland couple years ago to see the O’Neills family. Isn’t that interesting?
ScottyCol, Well my dad is a paddy, but I’m a stinking POM.
Jevon won’t need boxing gloves to fend people off, all he’ll have to do is fart like he has been lately. Its wicked! I get out of the room when he lets them rip, I hate to think how it will be when he gets older.
Intan. The name O’Neill means ’son of the champion’ in Gaelic and is the oldest name in Europe apparently.
Nick,
You have a very-very cute baby boy. Enjoy and treasure your times with him. I hope that he would grow up to be good productive member of society like you guys. When is he going to have a sister or brother?
Also, your wife is one heckeva lady. She is so strikingly beautiful. How did she end up being married to a stinking POM - just repeating your own words - like you? Just kidding. LOL. You two are perfect match for each other. I hope you two have long prosperous and wonderful life together.
PS, what is POM? is it Paddy On the Move? Paddy Of Mersey side?
Thanks for all the comments. A POM is an Aussie term meaning a person from England. A paddy is a someone from Ireland. When I was in school people called me Paddy O’Neill, figure that one out.
G’Day Nick,
Actually, POM is an anagram meaning ‘Perfection Of Man’

Tracy-It is rather odd to think that even though we have never met I was starting to be concerned that I hadn’t seen any comments from you in a while, glad to see that you are OK. How much longer do you have to go? I thought that your due date was soon. Hope to hear good news about you soon-Cathleen
Nick
