Ika has started to look like Jesse James. The reason for this is allergies, something I know very well. In my second year in Bali I thought of leaving the island for good, because all I was doing was sneezing and coughing all day. After figuring out the offending pollen was coming from the big white flowering trees in my garden, I cut them down. Result; greatly reduced allergies. Ika never used to get allergies and she is in the same boat as I used to be in. Our neighbor has the same huge white flowering trees.

reckon is the start of the dry season. Dry season goes from about April - October and the pollen producing plants and trees and pumping it out during this time. One thing that tricked me before was riding up to Ubud and other places, sneezing, and assuming the whole island was the same, where in fact it was the pollen jammed into my sinuses while asleep, that triggered all the discomfort. Ika is using some allergy medication, though I reckon a little garden triming will work better.
