Beautiful Sunday here in Bali. I had somewhat of a restless night with the bedroom lights on and Jevon next to me. I deal with it by typing till very late and being low energy the following day. Jevon is healthy, which is the main thing and is developing nicely. Everywhere I go in the Seminyak and Kuta area people ask me if Ika has given birth and if it's a boy or girl. When I say 'cowok' (boy) they always say 'bagus!!!' (good). In Balinese culture there is obviously a big pressure on families to have a boy. I was never stressed and was happy either way.
This afternoon Ika invited some local friends over to meet Jevon and her mother made an assortment of snacks including crispy things with vegetable in, plus kangkung (green vegetable) and rice. They also made traditional Javanese cookies. I usually don't touch the food her mother makes, I find it too greasy, stinky and just not to my taste. I did try some of this stuff today and it was so-so.
Everyone has told me that we should wait 3 months before taking Jevon out of the house because of the sun and the wind. That makes sense and I do look forward to getting him into our neighbors inflatable kids pool. I swim like drowning dog and want him to be better.
Ika's friend Komang came over with her young relatives. Komang is from Medewi in west Bali but lives in Denpasar.

Barrie,
THe crispy things were like lumpia (spring rolls) except they were pyramidal.
Komang is hot stuff if you ask me. She has been single for a long time and blew me away with her ’sexy dancing’ at the Kuta Karnival. It wasn’t really sexy dancing, its was more like variety show dancing, but she was wonderful!
Jevon will speak, English, Indonesian, Javanese and Balinese. I already told Ika I will be asking him for Indonesian words.
Hmmmm, maybe a nice lady for Pedro????
I think Pedro and Komang will get on fine.
G’Day Nick,
‘Crispy things with veggies in them’ - Sounds like Lumpia to me. Yummy!.
Komang is a beautiful woman. Oh to be single again! (it’s alright cos Candika doesn’t read the blog in Jawa!).
Glad to read Jevon is coming along nicely. He will be able to learn several languages and that’s good eh - English, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Jawa and Bahasa Bali. Before you know it Nick, he’ll be dominating the keyboard on your computer!
