Ika and I are in a waiting period so to speak as far as the baby. We have the little bed, plenty of clothes, the baby bathtub, the hospital and some names to kick around. The little package is due around July 7th but may decide to show up sooner. In the mean time Ika's relatives are coming over from Java. She asked me when would be good for them to come and I said a week after the birth. As I anticipated they take no notice and show up whenever they want. Ika's mum might be staying with us or with her sister, then her brother and dad will come at later stage. If having her mum around makes Ika feel more comfortable then its okay with me. We do still have 16 days to go though.
Ika was saying her mum will make her drink a special jamu (Javanese herbal drink) with coconut oil, to make the baby slip out. I just hope it doesn't affect her stomach and make her feel ill, she has been doing great up till now. Ika said the baby is big now and can push in both directions, up and down at the same time, whereas before she would just get an elbow in the ribs. Soon it will be much more comfortable for her.

Barrie,
I have heard of Jamu for birth… Although I doubt anything makes a baby just slip out! But I have been told about it, although I won’t be looking for any!!!!
Hi Tracey,
I agree. Geez, when a baby is born it has enough ‘fluid’ to slip out but not with ease. Sure hope Nick is going to be there for the birth because it is beautiful to be a part of.
hmmmm, perhaps for the male!!!!
I cannot say my giving birth was beautiful, exhausting, messy, painful, LONG, tiring, mentally challenging & also the Ultimate experience, but I’d be happier to watch someone else go through it!!! Although with 11 wks to go for second, I really cannot wait to meet the new member of our family!!!!
G’day Nick,
Javanese rellies are like that. You are gonna have one helluva houseful mate. I reckon you should draw a deadline for when they should return to Java otherwise you will end up with one or all of them permanently!.
You need that bonding between you, Ika and bubs straight after the birth without rellie interference.
I ain’t too sure on this Jamu thing for birthing mate. Jamu is good in certain occasions, but I have never heard of it for birthing.
