Cruising through a bookstore in Bali you will notice many old favorites including Island Of Bali by Covarrubias and travel guides to the island by LP, Rough Guides and others. The founder of Moon travel books, Bill Dalton strongly suggests reading books about the history of the island and its culture and says you will learn more that way than by following a guidebook. Fragrant Rice is written by author Janet De Neefe, the person behind the Ubud Writers Festival and owner of Casa Luna and Indus restaurants in the Ubud area. Janet first came to Bali in 1974 and is now married to a Balinese with 4 children. As well as being an author she runs the Casa Luna cooking school. The book details her life in Bali and how she adapted to living here. Janet offers insights into ancient Balinese myths and rituals that are still practiced today as well as sharing some of her recipes.
Fragrant Rice is published by Harper Perennial and retails for around AU$22.50

I have read Fragrant Rice and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have heard Janet De Neefe has also wrote another book. Is this true. I can’t seem to find any info on the web.
Thanks Linda
