The weather is lovely here in Seminyak Bali but many people seem to have a sinus infection or flu. Our neighbor Kali, who lives behind us with her young daughter, has had flu for a month as has another Balinese friend of mine. When Jevon has his head shaved the daughter of the lady passed on her flu to Ika, who subsequently gave something to Jevon. I have a mild case of something but nothing serious.
Ika told me that he was having a hard time when she laid him down and so he likes to be cuddled more. As luck would have it, Angie Chambers from Bali Paradise Weddings came over yesterday and gave Ika a Vick's Vapor rub. She puts it on a napkin and holds it near his nose, which seems to do the trick. Thanks to Angie for that one.
There seem to be 2 times of year when people get sick in Bali, the wet season and the dry season…just kidding! The wet season seems to produce respiratory infections and when the weather changes cooler weather as it has done in the last few weeks, people get caught out. I see people strolling around without shirt at 10pm, which is okay for them, but remember evenings cool off and riding a motorbike and getting chilled can help get you sick. All the Balinese have a jacket on at sunset when riding a bike.
