Here in Portland Oregon the weather is cold and rainy. I am a million miles away from Bali, but recieved an email from my darling wife. Here it is.
"Jevon now is 4 months and i start to giving him food. Even start when you were here. He seem doesn't like banana or papaya, he likes the biscuits but make him poo 5 or 7 times a day, when i call doctor, he said ok as long as jevon's pee is good. He eats poridge and be able to drink from the cup.
Brama has leaving Bali already at November 8, he loves Jevon and so do all my family. Father told me how proud he is of Jevon when he compare Jevon with his friend grandson. Especially when we took him to the swimming pool. As not so many Javanese do it ( take the baby to the swimming pool when they are baby).
Jevon now is 7 kgs and i don't believe of nurse saying about his height was 63 cm. I will check in another place. When i went there with my parents, i have complaint about the way they thread me as i got number 2 but they put me into number 3, like always i won.
Jevon is pretty active now, in hospital while we were waiting for doctors, outside was many patients and my mom took him close to another baby. Jevon likes to talk now but the sound he makes more like screaming people than talking make nice voice, ha ha. He scared many babies by pulling there hands, grab their cheek, clothes or other part of their body and talking. Their crying when Jevon did that to them. My parents, me and ningrum were laughing saw that. He can rolling pretty easy and his neck is pretty strong to hold his head, that was happen a night before my b-day, i take it as my present . And more happy was the head of terorist, DR Azahari had been caught and died by kill him self with boom, the other was about narcotic. The TV news in Indonesia everyday was telling that story. 2 Main stories was happen for my b day present. Oh yeah, Indonesia was famous by the nest of terorist and narcotica as the big factory of narcotica (number 3 in the world) was found by police in Serang, Banten. The owner which is Dutch man by the judge had punish by death. For me those story was to pitty as Indonesia is the place but the head is actually not from Indonesia.
Down the beach had been play of soccer that the players were coming from 5 country : Camerun,Japan, italy, chille and Indonesia. Its for tourism advertising and been shot by private television (RCTI and TPI). One of the reporter was shoot Jevon for long time, said my mom.
Barrie was come in the afternoon and give the "pecis" handmade by Candika for Jevon's present. komang was come at Idul Fitri to give present for Jevon as well. Jevon is lucky baby boy and for me he is my precious. Many people love him and like him and giving him many presents.
I have many story to tell you but if i write it i am scared if you will get bored to read it so…… i will write you more some other time. Take a good care of you there, take enough rest for you, stay healthy and be happy. Say hi to Sean, Mary and Dave, Chris, Donovan and Kerry and all the people that will give Jevon presents. I have also surprise for you when you coming.
Lots love
Jevon and ika"

Lovely to read Ika’s letter to you Nick. So pleased that everything is so good for you and your family. It was great meeting you and your sweet wife and little boy at your barbecue. you are one lucky bloke, Nick! would love to see a photo of Jevon wearing that peci
belated birthday to Ika. best wishes from freezing(-3C)Inglaterra.
what can we do for the victims of the bali bombings
nick,i would like to know what the bali bombings have done to the tourisn to bali
The Balinese community is very tight and with a wide network of relatives most of the local victims have people to rely on. For example I know the sister of one girl whose sister was the cashier at Raja’s. She had a chest injury which took a while to heal, but she was at home with the family.
I think the biggest thing you can do is to come to Bali this Christmas, if you had previously planned to. Bali Discovery posted a graph of arrivals and the numbers are down significantly.
If you scroll halfway down this page you can see a graph of the recent figures.

This Christmas will be slow, hopefully next summer ill be back to normal. The Indonesian government is going after the terrrorists so tourists should at least feel some degree of safety. It not the case that terrorism is rampant, its sporadic and your chances of getting hurt are slim.
Toney means “sqeamish” folks. Oh, he forgets the verb “being” white too. But correct spelling and proper grammar is not his forte– then again for a non-native English speaker he’s not bad.
I think Toney means “squeamish”. But who am I to speculate about the King Wop?
That letter was heart-warming, you’re a lucky guy Nick!
