Buying a babybath at Bintang in Seminyak Bali

Sunday morning Ika was excited to drag me down to Bintang supermarket to shop for baby things. In particular a plastic baby bathtub. Bintang (star) is located on Jl. Seminyak between Jl. Double six and Jl. Dhyana Pura. On the bottom floor to the rear left side is a little section for mothers that has baby powder and the usual selection of toiletry items.

We went to the second floor where they sell the pots and pans. Here we found the bathtub, there were 3 or 4 different styles but I pushed for the largest one, as I don't want to be buying a new one every month. The price of the bathtub was 49,800rp and we also picked up a little plastic stool for Ika to use while bathing the kid and a plastic pot for her to do its laundry. My whole outlay was 185,000rp, which was a good deal. The other day at Dr. Zakaria's in Denpasar we bought his prescription vitamins and minerals. Anticipating a rip off I was surprised to pay just 15,000rp for several strips of pills. Ika hates pills but Dr. Zakaria keeps writing those prescriptions.

G’Day Nick,

Hey, that’s just the beginning!. Wait until you get dragged into the baby clothes section every time you go to a supermarket or department store in the future even though you went in there for another reason!. Ain’t being Daddy just grand.

I just bought 24 terry towelling nappies, baby oils, plastic pants, a big thing of nappy soak/wash, breast pads, baby shampoo & bath oils & spent $100!!!

Atleast I have all the big stuff & we are pretty much ready to go! I am over carrying this weight around & the back pain is excruciating!!!!

Luckily I am only gonna do this once more!!!!

Good Luck Nick, I can’t wait to hear!!!!

Hi Tracey,

Not long for you now either eh. Glad to read that you are environmentally aware by buying terry towelling nappies and not those awful plastic crap (excuse the pun!) ones.

Making babies is fun, carrying them for 9 months is a bitch, giving birth is hell, and after, the little buggas cost you money!.

It’s a pity we can’t just walk into a supermarket and choose one of the shelf. Store-bought thought eh!.

I think it’s a groovy idea to go shopping for a kid, I just home they come with lifetime guarantees, coz as soon as it palys up, I am returning mine!!!!

Yep, I only ever use cloth nappies!!!
