The local expat newspaper in Bali is called the Bali Advertiser and features columns by people every couple of week. One of the columns, PC Adviser, is written by expat Bruce Briscoe who lives up in Ubud. I got to attend Bruce's wedding to the lovely Yanti in 2003. Bruce and Yanti had a very unique wedding as neither of them were Balinese Hindu, but decided to convert and go through the ceremony. Yanti's whole family from Java came and supported her all the way.
Bruce and Yanti have just completed a year and a half teaching English in China and are now back in Bali living in Ubud. Bruce was able to maintain his PC Advisor column the whole time, the wonders of the internet! The latest news from Bruce and Yanti is they have a guest house called Mimpi Gula (Sugar Dreams…should be Mimpi Nakal knowing Bruce!) and are thinking of adopting 2 of Yanti's young relatives. Its all happening in Ubud and if you are planning on staying in the area why not stay at Mimpi Gula and meet Bruce and Yanti.
