Break in at my neighbors in Seminyak Bali

My neighbor just came over to tell me his house was robbed this afternoon. He hasn’t lived there long and seems a nice young guy. His house is a mirror image of mine, and has the exact same security profile as far as doors, windows and perimeter walls. He said the thieves did not break the front door to get in, but did break an inside door to get his valuables.

The perimeter wall is high and has barbed wire, so they’d have to be athletes to gt over that. Our pembantu Anna is around all day, except for between 1pm and 3pm. I was at my gym from 1.45pm-3pm and Ika said she heard a motorbike pull up and the neighbor’s front door open around 2pm. “I thought it was you,” she said, “then I realize its the next house.” So whoever came in already had a key. The guy who rented the place, spoke with the guy he rented it from (its pass the parcel at this stage) and he said his other places have had a lot of break ins. They suspect the 2 young guys who are supposed to be ’security’, outside in the little shack with the TV.

That’s the most likely thing, knowledge of the area / people’s movements, access to keys. We’re lucky that there is someone in our house almost all the time. That and the fact that if you piled my belongings up and auctioned them off you’d get about $500 if you’re lucky.
