A cloudy afternoon that was bright encouraged some people to make it out to Blue Ocean Beach. I made it out because I work out there, and man did I work up a sweat today. Next to the gym I go to is the Komala Pantai hotel, ideal for people who like the beach, enjoy the sunset drinks scene and like the proximity to Kuta to the south and Seminyak to the north. As well as the row of good places to get a drink and a bite to eat, the beach itself has local drink sellers. Just stroll over, sit down and you might make a friend. When my buddy Jay was here last year, he played guitar and had a crowd of about 15 people there, the drink seller popping beer bottle tops as fast as he could.
Fake sunglasses are a Bali staple and I get asked if I want to buy, even when I’m wearing sunglasses. “Come on boss, buy one more,” they’ll say. I’d never wear their glasses even if they gave them to me as dark glasses that are not UV protectant are dangerous for your eyes. Come down here on a sunny day and its a hive of activity.

I don’t know him but a friend of mine does. I’m sure i’ll meet him sooner or later
I am a Monfore. Would you mind keeping us updated as the last time we got together (December 2005) he plans a marathon swim for the people of Aceh in May. It will be interesting to know if that is still in progress. Thanks.
I am Monte’s sister. He has, indeed, completed his swim and broke/set another world record. If you google his name, you will find a lot of information and a 7 minute video about the swim.
Hi Nick,
just curious if you happen to know Monte Monfore.
