New Years eve here in Seminyak and looking back 2005 was action packed. Here are some of the highlights for me.
January was the month Ika and I got married in Semarang Java. We spent a week there which included myself ‘becoming Muslim’ at least on paper. The wedding included a cleansing ceremony for Ika and a reception.
In February Ika and I took a very nice trip to the Eco Lodge near Mt. Batukaru, in one of the last real areas of jungle in Bali.
March was the month I interviewed American artist Pablo Gentile in his house in Seminyak. An original guy.
Catching up with good friends Barrie and Sean was a highlight for April. Barrie has a site worth book marking.
Schapelle Corby hogged the limelight in May and I attended the verdict in Denpasar.
June meant only one thing to myself and Ika, a little package named Jevon who showed up at 6pm on June 30th.
Meeting people from overseas is a part of my life and one of the people I met in July was Ray (Melbourne’s best Elvis impersonator) with his lovely wife Wayan.
Indonesian food is an ever present bonus to living in Bali. In August I visited Cabe Rawit in Seminyak
BBQ’s at my house are a great chance to eat drink and meet all kinds of people. This one in September included my brother Chris..
The October 1st bombings in Kuta and Jimbaran were the main thing that I remember from that month. Its the one negative thing from the year. October also was the month my friend Jay visited from Australia. Jay is an opinionated fellow, and one who loves to answer the question ‘What do you like about Bali?’, with “Okay let me take you back to 1987.” I did a multi part interview with him to dig out what exactly it is that he likes about Bali.
Leavenworth Washington provided a great break for me as well as a productive time of work. November in that part of the world yields a frsh atmosphere and chill in the air.
December I returned to Bali and immediately saw how much Jevon had grown in 5 weeks. Baliblog now features more articles, photos and now audio, than it did in early 2005 and 2006 will be a great year with new places visited, new information and friends.
