Buying wedding rings in Denpasar Bali

One of my last tasks to perform before heading off to Java was to choose a couple of wedding rings with Ika.

Neither of us are jewelry fans so I just told her to concentrate on something she liked. Ika had spent part of an afternoon already with her friend Komang looking around. Having small fingers her choice was limited and to add to the situation over here they sometimes make rings in pairs, so for us there was no chance of a pair fitting. All a scam in my view.

Ika told me she liked a couple of rings in white gold that were very simple but elegant. They were a pair but there was another larger single one also. The larger one fit me very well and the small one fitted her. I took all 3, the shop refusing to sell just 2. After we bought the 3 the attendent then offered to buy back the extra ring at a cheap price. I told them to spin and took the ring with me. Not so bad really, the entire cost was 1.48m rp (about $155) and I can sell the other one or give it as a gift to someone.

For people looking for these kind of rings and other with jewel and gold bracelets head for Jl. Hasanudin in Denpasar, all the locals go here and there is a line of shops to browse.

As we were checking out the rings street urchins tugged at our elbows sensing money was about to be splashed around.

Almost out of here and looking forward to getting this show on the road.

Lovely day to be at the beach today.

G’Day Nick,

Time’s a ticking away now mate. The 3 days will pass by quickly and then it’s married life. You will love it mate. One thing I meant to ask you, will you be wearing a Peci at your Muslim ceremony?.

You got off light with the cost of your rings and the choice of white gold was a good one. well done!.

I am lucky Ika is not a material girl. She told me she did not want a fancy tring and as she has small fingers the choice was limited. She chose our rings and i think they work well.

I will wear a suit and a peci at the muslim gig and an assortment of Javanese gear at the cultural wedding.
