Moving to Bali, building a house and starting a new life is many peoples dream. I have heard all kinds of nightmare stories and here is the other side of the coin. After the bombing in October 2002 tourism slumped, but I was told by an expat that property prices remained strong. Since that time there has been a land-rush, with new arrivals eager to get hold of land and develop it. Indeed there have been alarm bells ringing in Balinese circles about the amount of land that is being sold to non-Balinese.
I live in Seminyak, but it was not me asking about how Arsenal did last weekend. In this neighborhood the predominant nationalities tend to be French and Italian, as well as Australian. I have not met too many other British people. The year-round tourist trade though is something that attracted me, in fact it was one of my criteria for coming here.
In Seminyak an ara of land (100 sq meters, or 10m by 10 m) will cost you 300m rp (around $33,000). As is common all over Bali beach front and beachside property costs more than up in the hills, or the other side of the Bypass. Property prices away from the tourist centers drop dramatically. You can find land for 5m rp per ara all over the island, which is great if you are okay living in a local-only area.
Not being an expert on property I browse some of the glossy mags once in while and check out the new apartments getting built on the Bukit. Elite Havens is a well known company and people considering a luxury place should at least check out what they have to offer.

I’ve ever went to Bali,,, i think Bali is the best choice to stay or taking vacation.Bali is great!!! the cheaper value, great view, unique temple.I Lovin’ it.
many people doesn’t know about Indonesian beauty, but i guess Indonesia is so very great!!!
Having just returned from a month in Bali and reading the above article I must respectively disagree. Almost all Balinese people I spent time with constantly mentioned the stress of no money and no bules.
These are speculative realtor investors. When the Bali bubble pops they will be the first at the airport headed to the next hot spot.
