What makes it possible for me to be in Bali

Moving to Bali on Jan 1st 2003 was a huge thing for me. After 7 years living in Eugene Oregon I was ready for a change and this was a big step.

Living and working remotely have become possibilities for many people because of certain technologies that are available now, including jet airliners, ATM’s, cellphones and the internet. We take it for granted that we can find information and contact people online and the internet has become in 1 decade something that a lot of people could not live without.

So who exactly came up with the idea of making the internet and how did he build it? I was told in college that the US military needed a way to communicate via multiple routes in case of a nuclear attack and they were responsible.
