Ika and I found out quite a while ago that our child was a boy. Dr. Zakaria in Denpasar pointed to his ultra-sound monitor and said "Ini testes." That was a giveaway.
Since that time we have been knocking around various names, Ika pro-active in creating names and myself saying yay or nay to their possible inclusion.
I have 2 books of names, one western, the other Indonesian (as well as Javanese, Kawi, Arabic, Latin, Gaelic, Jewish). Giving the little bloke a name like John or Mark just wouldn't fit, and most of the Indonesian male names I saw reminded me of household products (Domestos, Borox, Advil, Prozak etc.). Ika came up with one name Jevon, which she said represented his predicted birth date of July 17th. The name was actually longer, but she cut it back to 2 syllable, which works for me. I figure the name was original and didn't come from a book, isn't totally western or Indonesian, is easy to say, easy to remember and there will not be confusion when someone asks, "Where's Jevon?"
For the middle name, my brother in-law Chris suggested Ethan back in December. I didn't give it much thought, but on the last day put it to Ika and she said okay.
