Sean, Chris and I enjoyed a buffet breakfast at Komala Pantai Hotel on Jl. Arjuna at the end of Jl. Double Six in Legian before getting into some of our meetings.
I generally don’t eat much in th morning but the food here is quite good. Today I ate grilled bananas, bacon, fruit ( papaya, melon, pineapple) potato cake and an omelette. We sat out under the shade of their large trees in the front garden, a relaxing way to start the day.
Around 1.30pm I took off for my house and the guys wanted to get ready to meet Juliana and Mike this evening at Benny’s on the beach.
My cleaner Ketut showed up and I sat out back trying to tune the guitar Sean had brought with him. I can’t really play, just 2 tunes, Blue Bossa and Sweet Melissa.
The mid afternoon drousiness set in and after taking a quick dose on my bed I woke up and Ketut was already gone. The skies opened up around 2.40pm and dumped a lot of rain on us. Wearing my jacket the top half stayed dry but I’ll have to swing back to the house to change shorts. That’s living in the tropics and the locals adjust remarkably well, its no stress getting soaked.
Looking forward to meeting Mike and Juliana ( her father caught a snake the other day and they marinated it! ). Photos will follow.
Visitors to Bali can expect morning and evening rain from November to March but that doesn’t mean its always wet. My brother enjoyed beautiful weather for his 1 week visit.

alternative is to buy one here in aus and then just buy an adaptor plug, what do you think? thanks for your help,,,,
G’Day Nick,
Just realised my mistake. Should have been KETUPAT and not Ku De Ta. Shit, you’ve been there more times than I can think!. Don’t know why I wrote Ku De Ta on the first post. Shit, writer’s overdose!!
Did Erica try the marinated steak? Apparently it’s good, Oregan style.
That’s exactly where we went for dinner tonight, Barrie. It was just as good as the time we went, although the massive menu still causes choice dilemmas.
has Barrie done a review on KETUPAT?
where is it?
coming to Bali for the 20th time on the 25th of jan and would like to know some new good places to eat…
staying at Legian Village hotel in Jalan Padma…

Hello all, I am planning my FIRST visit to Bali and need feedback on the weather conditions. I am looking at the beggining of February and will be there a few weeks. I want to do landscape photography in the mornings and then afternoons (from sunrise to an hour after and then an hour before sunset thru sunset). Is this when it rains the most? Would the end of February be better? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have to make a decision by next week. Aloha, John
Steve,
I promise you, you can get a jaffle maker… In Denpasar you will definately find them…. But I would think in Kuta they’d have them too as all the bar/cafe’s, Restaurants have them….
If you would feel better about buying it before leaving it’s up to you…Of course… But I guarantee you’ll find one in Bali!!! They are similar in price, from memory, there are many electrical little stores around you will find them there too. But if you are buying for a friend maybe they could take you to a number of places that stock them… They can then choose???
QUESTION TO ALL:
My husband is Balinese arrived in Melbourne (Eastern Suburbs) just over 2 weeks ago. He is looking for some out door work, he is interested in landscaping, labouring, but basically just learning something/anything new. His experience in Bali was working at airport as a check in manager, but after the bombing there has not been much work around, he then helped his brother in law set up sound systems etc. His English is good & he would be willing to try anaything & is eager to start. He is currently waiting for his license to be translated, he has a tax file number, but at this stage we have not bought a second car. If anyone is interested in teaching him or giving him a go, it would be hugely appreciated…. His name is Gede & there are photo’s of our wedding etc in the old news AUGUST here on the Blog… Just email here & we can get in touch…
Thanks Tracey…
I’m counting down the hours ’til I’m there - will be arriving tomorrow at 6pm, expecting a weekend of fun. ![]()
Cheers,
Miles.
G’Day Nick,
Marinated snake…YUM!.
Are you going to take Sean to Ku De Ta for a slap up feast?. Magnificent place as both you and Chris already know.
I love walking in the rain. Sounds goofy eh but it’s great in the tropics. All the locals think your nuts. Hmmm..they could be right there!
