Wet weather in Umalas Bali

Friday afternoon I went for a ride on my motorbike. Nearing Cafe Moka in Umalas the skies opened and down came the rain. This was not a flash shower, this was a storm, and the rain is still lashing 3 hours later as I write this. I actually like the rain, it clears the air and makes the atmosphere cooler. Inside Cafe Moka, the second one of the chain, I ordered a chocolate eclair and a latte for 28,000rp (am I turning into a fairy?). This branch of Cafe Moka doesn’t get the same volume on customers as the original, but during my hour there I saw bules pull up in SUV’s for items to go.

After Moka I rode around in Umalas, exploring the lanes between the rice fields and villas. My silver plastic poncho kept me mostly dry. Ponchos are the way to go. Your lower legs and arms will get wet, but the rest fo you will be mostly dry. When the rain stops you can fold it up and stick it under your seat. Coming home around 5.40pm, Jl. Raya Kerobokan was choked with traffic and the road was partially flooded, the inadequate roadside drainage and the overflowing rice paddies proving too much to handle.

Here’s the Bali 10 day weather forecast.

Nick,
Selamat Tahun Baru juga!

Just wondering if this Cafe Moka is the same Cafe on Seminyak. I was buddy with the owner,(Seminyak) Gede for years (before I moved to Jakarta and now here in US).

Salam!
