Visiting the Eco Lodge at Batukaru Bali

One of the most tranquil areas in Bali is Mt. Batukaru, in Tabanan. A friend of mine owns a place up in Sarinbuanu called the Eco Lodge, which is located in the mist of a beautiful forest and complete with a 40 meter viewing tower. My friends Jay & Debbie are staying up and have invited me to spend the night. I am cranking out articles at this moment and will ride up there around 2pm. Part of my reason for going up there is to check out the hiking around the mountain. Norm, the owner is really into conservation and is active in trying to stop logging and building and hiking trail.

To get to the Eco Lodge head west on the main road out of Tabanan and look for a signpost on the right side of the road saying Sarinbuanu, you then follow small signs and ask locals for about 45 minutes heading up steep, rutted roads. The weather here in Seminyak is steamy and overcast. Up in Batukaru it will be much cooler and I am taking a sweater. The journey should take me under 2 hours.

Stop Press: As I am sitting in an internet cafe in Seminyak there is a torrential downpour outside. The noise of the rain of the roof sounds like a stadium of people cheering.
