Visa card offers discounts for visitors in Bali

logo_visa.gifBali is a place with plenty of things going on from Beach, to shopping, to culture, to nightlife. If you need to be talked into coming there is something wrong with you. The problem for the island is that Bali is not the only great place in SE Asia and countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines can offer some of the same things. The Jakarta Post says Visa Card has decided to give tourists one more reason to visit Bali by starting its Visit Bali Program 2005. This program gives cardholders up to 50% discount from participation businesses including restaurants, spas and shopping destinations.

That all sounds good especially if you are a high-end tourist staying in Seminyak of Nusa Dua. Most businesses on lower Jl. Legian in Kuta do not accept credit cards. Guesthouses do not accept credit cards, or other businesses like Perama bus.

Most of the better restaurants take a selection of cards and of course all the bigger hotels. It would be very nice to get a 50% discount on an item you really wanted and interesting to see the effectiveness of this latest tourism push.
