Ika and I met Jay, Debbie and little Sienna at the airport today and introduced them to Jevon. Jay said his flight from Australia had only 20 people in their section of the plane. It took about 20 minutes to get from the plane to the street. After lunch at the very affordable Trattoria in Seminyak (yes I go there, its busy but the food is so good!) we said goodbye to them. They are heading for the tranquillity of the Eco Lodge in the hills behind Tabanan. There are no tourists up at any time, never mind terrorists. I went over to Rumours restaurant close to Trattoria and chatted with the Stuart, the chef from Adelaide. He felt that the shock from the bombing was not on the level of the last one and it would be a short period before consumer confidence was back.
Early this evening I went over to Sin City, the sports bar across from Santa Fe in Seminyak. I love that place, great food, huge screen, AC and comfortable chairs. The place has never been busy since it opened. A great idea in the wrong place. Seminyak types like hip hop music and sex. They like a dance club with sexy PR staff, a pumping club with cocktails. I watched part of the athletics roads races from the UK alone. My 2 Bintangs and order of spring rolls cost 41,000rp. I bet the owner of Sin City is having a nervous breakdown. Great place, great investment, in the wrong place at totally the wrong time. Here's a tip for that guy if he's listening. Turn the place into a lounge bar / club. Hire PR staff, do drink specials, counter dancers, the place will be packed.
Ika ordered a nasi goreng from Warung Baku Dapa across the street and I delivered it. While there I saw a funny flyer for Q Bar, Bali's best known gay bar. Barrie has landed in Bali today, its like the true believers came out to show themselves, with more to come at the end of the week. A Bali supporters bbq WILL HAPPEN within the next 2 weeks. Stay posted!

Thanks Coni.
Hey Nick,
Happy to see Jay and the family made it. We fly in on October 20. Not a lot of time to all hang together, but we’ll make the best of it. I will bring a nice juicy can of Spam for you from the USA.
Cheers,
Mike
