This Tuesday I spent quite a bit of time working on some new articles and a couple of maps to help navigation easier.
I must say having AC in one room of my house makes a lot of difference when I’m working. Sitting out back in the wet season heat I’m sweating and need another shower after a hour.
I got an SMS from Andrea who is in Gili Air, one of the islands off of the NW coast of Lombok. She has met cool people and loves it there. I will get her tips before she heads back to Germany in a few days.
We’re almost at the end of March and pretty soon the elections start here in Bali, April 5th to be exact. This will be the election of Representatives to the House of Representatives (DPR), Regional Parliaments (DPD), and Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). I’m sure we’ll see plenty of young guys riding around in dump trucks trying to look cool and hope nobody loses their head. Bali’s police chief is hoping for the same.
This evening we had torrential rain for about 3 hours and a real thumper of a storm. I thought the lightening was about to crash through my ceiling at one point. Here’s our 10 day weather forecast.
There’s great news for net surfers here in Kuta. Internet Outpost has changed it access provider and now has a 256 kbps connection which is way better than the previous set up.

Hi Nick!
Only five… count’em… FIVE more sleeps to go, before I hop on a flight to HK, then another one to DPS.
256kbs at IO in Bali? Kewl, I gotta check that out. Do they support wireless laptops using 802.11?
Please email me your SMS so I can get a hold of you when I touch down and get a hotel. Keep Tuesday April 6 open and I’ll buy you dinner and the beer I promised. You pick the place!
Best wishes
Chris

hi nick,
jsut wondering if you could offer me anymore information or advice about being in bali during the elections?
my family are heading off without me, the elections are of concern.
thanks
You will look cool in front of the backpackers with your wireless centrino baby.
Kylie,
I don’t think Bali will be a place to worry about during the elections. Its hard to predict what people will do but I don’t sense right now there’s much to worry about.
