Barrie-Would you please consider writing some posts about Yogya? We were only there for a week, as you can imagine only touched the surface. We did go down the gangs where we had our best experiences. We made friends that I e-mail, good people. The place that we ate most was a little neighborhood place where we had 2 soto ayam & fruit teas, all for 80 cents! Good food & someone always came over to practice their english. Maybe you could share some of your better experiences with us, would be helpful our next time there. I love to hear good travel stories, helps me remember that there is a world out there.

Hi Cathleen C,

I would love to include stories on Yogya on this blog, but, it’s Nick’s blog and it’s about Bali. Sorry about that!

However, if you want to see some stories of mine on Yogya then go to:

http://www.thelongtriphome.com

Also, Boots n’ All (www.BootsnAll.com)have some stories of mine on Yogya but I’m not sure if they are still there.

I loved the street food in Yogya where after 9pm all the footpaths are taken up with vendors selling all delicious food. Down on Jalan Sosrowijayan there are some good warungs and also Jl. Mataram. Heck, Yogya is food paradise!.

If Barrie wants to do some items on Yogyakarta (very significant cultural place in Central Java) we’d love that. Its possible to get a day return from Bali to Yogya in time to visit Borobudor, one of the greatest temples in the world.

Barrie-you are being too modest. I will take at look at your site but must let you know, I just can’t look at BootsnAll!! Too many stories to look at and everytime I do, many hours later I come up for air out of a travel-trance, realize how many hours have past, scoot myself home making apologies to my spouse about “working late”, but he knows it’s those darn travel stories again. Baliblog is my one daily indulgence….So could you please do a few pieces about your time &/or recommendations in Yogya?, or at least give it some thought.

Hi Cathleen C,

First up, if you want a quick look at some of Yogya stories then go to http://www.thelongtriphome.com and click on my Bali Photojournal on there. Underneath you will see a list of stories on Yogya.

I will have a word with Nick and see what he wants on Yogya, so maybe, just maybe you will see some stories on Yk here soon.
