Todays Word of the Day is Malu



MALU: Shy,bashful,embarrassed.

Example: Masuklah,jangan malu-Don’t be shy,come in.

Bermalu: Have a feeling of shame,embarrassment.

Memalukan: Cause shame, disgrace.

Example: Anak itu memalukan bapaknya-That child disgraced his father.

Kemaluan: Privates,genitals. Also literal term for ashamed,shame.

Kemalu-maluan: Very ashamed.

Example: Dia menundukkan kepalanya- He bowed his head in shame.

Pemalu: Tending to be shy or timid.

Example: Istri saya pemalu sekali-my wife is very shy.

Hi Stavros,

No, it doesn’t have a different meaning but because the majority of people their, their religion is Muslim, and so it’s not a word spoken in public!.

You will find that most folk there generally refer to the flaccid piece of flesh by the Western term. No, I’m not going to list them!.

Hey, Barrie!

I’m the one who so hardly tries to learn Indonesian. I think that’s helpful to go through Indonesian songs; by the way, I once made some comments to you about “Anggrek Bulan”.

Well, you know the song Kisah Kasih Di Sekolah. It says, at certain point, “malu aku malu — pada semut merah — yang berbaris di dindign…”. Does malu stand for ashamed, shy, emabarrassed?
