Definately the most common word used in Bali. remember if someone asks you “how are you” -(apa kabah) the correct way to reply is to answer with “baik baik,
terima kasih”- (fine, fine thankyou). correct me if im wrong just an indonesian once told me “you cannot be bagus” it is not used to describe oneself.

Stavros…Spot on mate.

Most westerners seem to think that because ‘bagus = good’ then it applies to anything that is good.

If you are asked at a restoran “How’s the food?”, then you would NOT answer ‘bagus’ but instead you would say ‘Enak’ (delicious).

If your eating & the food is really good, you would say “Enak sekali” very good, maybe say if you were eating a seafood basket at Bily’s Bar which is loacted on Jln Sahadewa!??? hee hee hee

Hi Tracey,

‘Enak sekali’ means ‘very delicious’!.

Geez mate, ya should re-enrol!. (He, he…!)

Intersting point you made in another post regarding formal language. If you ever decide to venture to the other islands in Indo, then you will need to use this format in certain places.

Where did you study Bahasa Indo?

At Box Hill Tafe in Melb… OK, you got me… VERY DELICIOUS!!! I had good in my head from bagus!
The teacher was an Indian Malay man that reminded me of the Father from the Kumars @ No. 42… That hilarious program!
He would just go off on another tangent somewhere & we’d all be sitting there wondering ihf he remembered we were still there!?

Hope you haven’t found the mullet gag yet????

Hi Tracey,

I found it!. Actually I found a foto the other day of when I had hair!. YUK!. Think I prefer the ‘dome’ as Nick calls it. After all, there are plenty of beautiful ‘domes’ in this world. Unfortunately I ain’t one! (He, he…!).

Hey there’s nothing wrong with a TAFE to learn Indo. But being taught by an Indian/Malay?. I had 4 different lecturers in the years I studied. One from Bangka Island, another from Sulawesi, and the last two years were lecturers from Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta. So you can imagine how those lecturers INSISTED on perfection.

THe Kumars was great eh. Have you checked out ‘Boosh’ yet on the ABC. One hell of a laugh.
